Jordan Weapons and Ammunition Law No. 34 of 1952 (as amended 1998) strictly regulates firearms possession, carry, and trade.

Licensed Weapons

Personal handguns and hunting rifles may be licensed; fully automatic weapons, grenades, explosives, and military arms are entirely prohibited for civilians.

Licensing Requirements

Age 21+, Jordanian nationality or legal residency, no dishonorable convictions, security clearance.

Key Offenses and Penalties

  • Unlicensed possession: 1-3 years imprisonment.
  • Celebratory gunfire in public: fine, imprisonment, and license revocation.
  • Arms smuggling: long-term imprisonment; death penalty if linked to terrorism.
