Overview

Labor relations in Jordan are governed by Labor Law No. 8 of 1996. Labor courts have jurisdiction over disputes.

Key Rights

  • Written employment contracts required.
  • Minimum wage: 260 JOD/month.
  • 48-hour work week maximum; overtime at 125%.
  • 14-21 days annual leave; 10 weeks paid maternity leave.

Termination and Arbitrary Dismissal

Arbitrary dismissal entitles workers to end-of-service gratuity (one month per year), dismissal compensation (three months per year up to 3 years), and notice pay.

Dispute Resolution

Complaints are first filed with the Ministry of Labor, then escalated to labor courts if mediation fails.
