Overview
Jordanian civil litigation is governed by Civil Procedure Law No. 24 of 1988. Courts are tiered: Magistrate, Court of First Instance, Court of Appeal, and Court of Cassation.
Jurisdiction
Subject matter: Magistrate Court for claims under JD 5,000; Court of First Instance above that. Territorial: defendant domicile or contract performance place.
Stages
Filing and service → defense submissions and evidence → judgment → appeals (30 days) → cassation (30 days on legal grounds).
Interim Measures
Precautionary attachment, travel ban, and urgent injunctions available before or during proceedings.
